Everyone in tech is feeling a very specific type of anxiety right now related to the rapid disruption of AI. But oftentimes, high-achieving women react to this uncertainty by over-preparing and waiting until they are 100 percent sure before speaking up. Meanwhile, a colleague with half as much knowledge speaks up, gets tapped for a task force, and is positioned as a leader.
The gap between you and that colleague has nothing to do with capability. The work you have already done has already earned you your seat. The only thing standing between you and that recognition is the thought that you have to be certain before you can show up. Write down the circumstance in one neutral sentence. Then, write down the thought or story you attached to it. Do not try to fix it yet, just observe it!
